The end of the year is approaching fast and dental insurance benefits typically don’t roll over to next year.

CLEANINGS & PREVENTION

What are Cleanings and Prevention?

Cleanings are performed by licensed hygienists who use specialized tools to remove plaque and tartar from your teeth. Over time, built-up tartar can cause tooth decay as well as gum disease. By coming in for regular cleanings, you’re preventing either of these problems from occurring and are taking a proactive approach to the health of your teeth. We even offer many preventative options such as sealants and fluoride treatments.

Why are Cleanings and Prevention needed?

The reason you should be coming in for regular cleanings is because they can work to prevent tooth decay and gum disease. When plaque is allows to sit in areas for too long, it develops into a hard, chalky substance known as tartar (calculus). Over time, this tartar builds up on your teeth and the bacteria can eat away at the gums and teeth. In turn, this causes cavities, gingivitis and eventual gum disease.

The staff members and Dr. Patel really showed that they care about your comfort and well being! Rachel was awesome! I felt little to no pain while she was cleaning my teeth. They were all attentive in what I had to say and I really enjoyed my visit! The staff members and Dr. Patel really showed that they care about your comfort and well being! Rachel was awesome! Who is a good candidate for Cleanings and Prevention?

Every member of your family is a good candidate for routine cleanings and preventative care. It’s never too early or too late to start coming in for these appointments. Our goal is to care for your teeth so that you can avoid more invasive procedures later on. Cleanings can be done in about an hour in our office at your own convenience.

What happens during the process of Cleanings and Prevention?

The cleaning begins by checking your gums for signs of gingivitis and periodontal disease. This is done by using a probe to measure the pocketing around each tooth. Deep pocketing could indicate gum disease, and we will offer treatment options if it’s found. The hygienist then clears away any and all tartar and plaque from the teeth. The teeth are then polished and flossed, and we’ll discuss other preventative treatments with you during your appointment. Caring for your teeth is as simple as coming in for bi-annual cleanings and checkups.

If you think you might need a cleaning and want to know more about our preventative options, call us today and we can further assist you.
