Wisdom Teeth Extractions
What are Wisdom Teeth Extractions?
Wisdom teeth are the very last to come in and can often cause issues with your oral health. If the wisdom teeth do not have enough room to fully come in, they’ll become impacted. Impacted wisdom teeth can be painful, cause infection and even damage surrounding teeth. It is best to have the wisdom teeth removed before they become too problematic.
Why are Wisdom Teeth Extractions needed?
If you leave in wisdom teeth that are impacted, they can eventually cause problems with your dental and oral health. They may become infected, cause an abscess and even damage the surrounding teeth. It is better to get your wisdom teeth removed sooner rather than later because it prevents them from becoming too much of an issue. We provide our patients with quick, effective wisdom tooth removal when it is needed.

When do you know you need Wisdom Teeth Extractions?
There are a few signs to look for when it comes to the health of your wisdom teeth. We can examine your mouth and take x-rays to determine if you may need the wisdom teeth removed. Some signs to look for include:
- Pain and soreness
- Tenderness
- Bad breath
- Infection and inflammation
- Damage to surrounding teeth
- Headaches
What happens during Wisdom Teeth Extractions?
We begin by administering sedation so that you are put into a deep sleep for the procedure. We then make small incisions through the gums and remove the teeth underneath. This process is repeated for all four wisdom teeth or however many we’ll be removing. You will need to have someone you trust bring you home from the appointment, since you won’t be able to drive yourself. Your gums will begin to heal after a few days and you can expect all soreness and inflammation to go away after about one to two weeks. We are here to help if you experience any post-operative complications.
If you think you might need to have your wisdom teeth extracted, call us now and we will be happy to get you in for an appointment.
